Structure of the two-mass model used to simulate the vocal folds and the vocal tract. The vocal folds are represented by a mass-spring-damping system, coupled with a four-tube model. In this model, m denotes a mass, k1 and k2 are linear stiffnesses, kc is the coupling stiffness connecting the two masses, and r1 and r2 are the viscous resistances. L and A represent the length and cross-sectional area of the vocal tract, respectively.
