Experimental procedure. The experimental procedure was divided into four stages. In the first stage, only visual information is presented. During the second stage, information about the ambiguous item is presented. In the third stage, the word “to” (which corresponds to “and” in English) is heard, followed by a 0.3-s pause. In the fourth stage, information about the unique item is presented. The participant’s comprehension of the ambiguous information is considered to occur during the second and third stage
