PHMM predicts a protrusion of the lips into half of the duration of the [ua] allophone while both HMM-based (light blue) and concatenation-based (black) trajectory formation systems predict a quite earlier retraction at acoustic onset. In the original stimuli the protrusion is sustained till the end of the word "ensures".
